Commander Blake M Dremann, knows a thing or two about transgender military service, he's one of the "Old Guard."
Blake is currently the supply officer for USS Frank Cable. Previously he served as Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul – Logistics Department Head at Fleet Readiness Center – East in Cherry Point, NC. Blake has deployed 11 times overseas, on surface ships and submarines. Blake is also a former President of SPARTA, a transgender military advocacy organization. He testified before Congress in February 2019 prior to the first transgender ban that April. When the ban was implemented, Blake wrote an op-ed for The Advocate and stated, "Putting on the cloth of this country is more than just a job. It is a calling -- a calling to serve something greater than ourselves. And now as one of the last remaining trans service members, I will serve as a reminder that no matter what policies they implement, we, as trans people, cannot be erased." He is a native of St. Louis, MO. A 2003 graduate from Ozark Christian College, he received his commission through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL in 2006 and attended Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, GA. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Norwich University in 2019 and a Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics in 2022 from Southern New Hampshire University. |
